Do a lot of foreigners think it was mostly Americans that killed the Iraqis?

I'll admit that we did end up killing around 100,000 civilians or so. But when i was doing community service for my school, this one was cultivating immigrants, Iraq became a popular subject and for some reason they all thought that the 1 million death rate was from only american forces. My cousins served in Iraq and they said that most of the death rate came from the groups there that set off bombs in the shopping centers and markets that caused it and not military strikes. They were saying that tribes and groups were fighting for regional power
