When I reply to a message by choosing the sender's e-mail address, how do I later read my reply?

To clarify, when I hit "Reply," I have the option of sending my message to the group, to the individual, or to the moderator. If I choose the individual and hit "Send," I am no longer able to go back and see what I wrote.
