I want to make an Illustration to sell.?

I'm a starving artist and I was wondering if I could do an illustration of some one famous like Barack Obama or Gandhi and sell it on eBay or elsewhere, without copyright issuess, would I get sued if I sold one without permission from Obama or whoever I"m doing.
